Front Yard, Back Yard, Barn Yard

Yesterday morning as I opening the door to let Boston out, I looked up to see two deer standing under the juniper tree in our front yard! They stared at Boston and me and we stared right back. It wasn't until Boston ran after them that they took off toward our woods. As I rushed through the house to spot them in the back yard I noticed two other deer were with them! Marco and I figured they were in the yard pawing for the last few apples in our trees and the scattered bird seed by our feeders.
The squirrels have finally discovered our bird feeders stocked full of black sunflower seeds. So far we've spotted a grey and red squirrel. We don't begrudge them a protein packed meal, but if a large enough squirrel does come around we'd consider taking a shot at it. I wouldn't mind trying roasted squirrel for supper!
We've been busy with our barn chores in the morning and in the evening. Marco and I went into Dassel to pick up some cracked corn for the chickens. We also brought out a bale of hay for the goats and donkeys. Since it's been warmer out we've spent some time with the goats and donkeys, bringing them apples for snacks and trying to brush their fur. It helps to keep goats fur well brushed. Last spring one of our goats got kind of mangy and I figured it was because of a lack of brushing.
